love note
naked thin ink
she folds three times
on a crease

sealed, stamped
slipped through
the impartial plot
of a cold postal

slot — she holds
herself open
eons, listening
to no echo, ever

she sinks
wide
dark
deep

in her furrow
stalactites
weep spikes and drip
forever

Every now and then, you have to play the sad song, touch the bruise left unattended and feel into its deep, bitter ache.

We’ve all been there — you shared a link; they didn’t click it. You gave a gift; they didn’t open it. You submitted a story; they let it rot beneath a slush pile. You professed your love; crickets answered.
